If you’ve followed me or my content for a while, you know that I LOVE time hacking!

Time hacking has a lot to do with your mindset, feelings and beliefs around time and less about strategy.

But still, strategy around time does have its merits!

Lately I’ve been investing some time to clean up what I’m not using so there’s less mental clutter to take up the precious space in my mind.

Things that ‘hang out there’ will suck up your mental bandwidth without you even realizing it.

Here are 5 things I’m doing right now to reclaim more bandwidth in my life:

#1 Tightening up my inbox – anything I’m not currently interested in gets the unsubscribe button. I’ll keep value driven emails but if its pure marketing emails with no substance, I know where to find them if I need them.

#2  Tighten up your notifications – grab your phone right now and trim your notifications down. A lot of apps have default settings that bombard you with notifications that distract you through the day. Take 5 minutes and turn off any that you don’t need to know about, especially social media. You can also use “Airplane mode” for periods of focus or for family time.

#3 Tighten up your apps – go through your phone and dump any apps you haven’t used in the last 60 days. You an always add them later if you need to. This gives your PHONE/Computer AND your brain more bandwidth.

#4 Tighten up your subscriptions – How many low cost subscriptions do you have that you aren’t using? Take 30 minutes and go through your credit card & bank statements as well as your Paypal, Venmo and Google/Apple pay to see what subscriptions are auto renewing every month or year that you don’t really need. Give your wallet AND your brain more bandwidth with this one.

#5 Tighten up your pipeline – Don’t let deals hang out there in your business. Close them or move them to the back burner. Push for an answer, this doesn’t mean be ‘pushy’, it just means move the prospect forward to make a decision or off your plate so you can serve a client who is ready to go.

So often we fear pushing to a decision because we are afraid of blowing up the deal. But you really don’t have a deal if its just hanging out there. Take control of your pipeline.
