If you’ve followed me for a while, you know I am obsessed with the concept of ‘bending time’; the ability to 10x the amount of what we can do.

It’s been 3 years since I’ve been able to run a business, create content on multiple platforms, run a full book in sales, be a father to 3 kids, sleep 8 hours per night, put out 140+ episodes of my podcast, create 200+ videos and work out/meditate 6 days per week.

I won’t go into it here, but I believe that time is highly malleable because of 1) how we manage time (what most people focus on), 2) our beliefs and how we ‘feel’ about our time (time anxiety) and 3) how we manage our ‘energy’ around time.

Today I wanted to talk about the ONE thing you can do to amplify time in your schedule and turn you into a time ninja.

The simple formula to getting massive results is this:

+Gain knowledge.

+ Take action.

– Reduce overthink.

= Massive results.

What is crazy is after diagnosing hundreds of solopreneurs and where the biggest opportunity lies, it falls within the overthink category, and that often affects the other 2 categories causing people to not take action, focus too much on learning (course collecting) or learning the wrong things.

Overthink is the silent killer of businesses because so much time and energy is spent wasted asking yourself things like:

What happens if I fail?

What if I make the wrong decision?

What if they think I’m a fraud?

Am I wasting my time?

This is the mental ping pong game that is going back and forth in most people’s minds, and it’s a huge time and energy sucker.

The average person spends 2 hours per day overthinking or obsessing about things instead of being decisive and having confidence around their decisions.

This is the single biggest opportunity to GAIN time in your schedule, by reducing the volume of overthink. And it has nothing to do with your actual schedule.

Yesterday on LinkedIn I posted about how we always say ‘mindset is everything’; yet our mind is actually the culprit of overthinking things.

Our minds is a beautiful supercomputer capable of so many things! Yet it is also very analytical, logic and reasoning based, and also quite judgmental.

When I say judgmental, I mean it’s that negative voice that’s always got an opinion on everything. It scoffs at other people’s success and writes them off as lucky. Or it says you are not enough and tries to keep you well tucked in your comfort zones.

All this overthink is spending precious amounts of time that could be used towards acting towards our goals.

I’ve literally seen people stuck overthinking something like putting out a post for days, mulling it over, worried about what others will think or if the post is ‘good enough’ instead of just putting it out there.

Can you see how indecisiveness and overthinking is the root of so much lack of time? It’s not your schedule!

Here’s the key to making better decisions and having confidence in them:

I like to think that we have 3 decision makers within us, all capable of their own opinions, but not always able to make the best ones if left alone. Think of them as ‘board members’ that all have a seat within our decision-making board room.

Board member #1 is our mindset, it’s the logic, the reasoning, the analytical mind. It wants things to make sense.

Board member #2 is our heart set, this is our passion, purpose, our ‘why’, it wants us to be happy.

Board member #3 is our gut; this is our intuition. The gut is literally called our ‘second brain’ because it contains 500 million neurons. This is why they literally say ‘listen to your gut’ or why people become ‘sick to their stomach’ or have gut issues due to stress.

When you cross big or small decisions, you can weigh in with all 3 of theses board members and together they can help you become more decisive in anything you do.

What does your mind say? What does your heart say? If they are not in alignment, what does your gut say? Let your gut be the tie breaker.
