How To Be More Productive By Classifying What Is Truly Important

𝗣𝗮𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁, 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲.

You've heard the saying when it comes to money, pay yourself first, meaning put money in savings before you have time to spend it on everyone else.

Its a great practice but a lot of people don't do it then end up living paycheck to paycheck, always saying they will start saving 'when they get enough money' which never happens. Time works the exact same way. Pay yourself first.

Most people make a big task list of things they need to do, then work on the stuff that does NOT move the needle then avoid the things that they do need to do, or spend too much time doing things that have no effect on the bigger overall picture at the expense of important moments in life.

I'll never miss out on an important event for my kids. Once I had a 3 day mastermind in Austin that I really wanted to attend, but my daughters dance recital was on day 2 of the event. So I flew back and forth and caught day 1 and 3 AND caught my daughters performance.

One of my favorite ways to carve out time and make sure I have my priorities set so that I have everything I want done and weed out the stuff that is not important is by sorting things into categories.

The photo above shows the same jar, both are filled with the exact same sand, pebbles and rocks. You'll notice when you put the sand in first, then the pebbles in, then the rocks, the rocks come out the top. If you put the rocks in first, then the pebbles, and then the sand, you can fit it all in.

In life, it's important to know what your rocks are, what your pebbles are and what your sand is, and then also what is not worthy of being in the jar.

𝗠𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲𝘀 (rocks): My non negotiables ALWAYS come first.

✅ Family time.
✅ Workout time.
✅ Meditation.
✅ 8 hours of sleep.
✅ Learning and personal development.

𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼'𝘀 (pebbles):

✅ Work stuff.
✅ Podcast & content.
✅ Business stuff.

𝙊𝙪𝙩𝙨𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙘𝙚:

👉 Accounting.
👉 Advertising, building funnels.
👉 Housekeeping.
👉 Landscaping.

𝙉𝙞𝙘𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚𝙨 𝙡𝙖𝙨𝙩 (sand).

🤔 Watching Netflix or YouTube.
🤔 Scrolling without intention on social media.
🤔 Water cooler talk and socializing.
🤔 Responding to non business related messages.

𝙉𝙤𝙩 𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙝𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚 𝙤𝙣:

❌ Judging others.
❌ Politics, news, toxic socials.
❌ Negative self talk & overthink, wondering if its going to all work out.
❌ Being around negative people.

If my priority list goes top to bottom and there simply is no reason why I can't get all that I want and need done when I classify what is truly important and throw out what is not.

Stop saying 'I don't have enough time' or 'I'm to busy' for things like your self care, health or personal development. Instead, say 'it's not important enough for me to make time for'. That will give you some perspective.
