Exposing The Biggest LIE About Money
May 11, 2023One of the most damaging beliefs about money is that “the LOVE of money is the root of all evil”.
If you believe on a conscious or subconscious level that loving money is evil, then you’ll avoid making more of it.
‘Love of money = evil’ becomes ‘Money = evil’.
Then your subconscious thinks ‘I don’t want to be evil, so I better stay away from money’.
After spending a decade with some of the wealthiest people in Utah, I found that there was no truth to that and there are plenty of very wealthy people who do a LOT of good in the world.
If you look up “The Giving Pledge” on Google, you’ll find there is a VERY long list of billionaires that have pledged to give away the vast majority of their wealth to others.
There’s nothing wrong with money and the more you LOVE it, the more it will love you.
The way I look at money is like a relationship.
When you LOVE someone, that doesn’t mean putting it on a pedestal and worshipping them, or being obsessed.
When you LOVE someone, you don’t talk bad about them.
When you LOVE someone, you don’t treat them like a ‘thing’.
When you LOVE someone, you can partner with them to do amazing things.
When you LOVE someone, you should know as much about them as possible.
If you do those same things with Money, you’ll build a healthy relationship.
Let’s talk about that last one, learning about money.
One difference between the wealthy and the poor is that the wealthy have learned about money.
Most poor people say, “well I don’t know about money” or “I’m not good at money”.
No one is born ‘knowing about money’, they learn it.
Years ago, I started learning more about money and guess what happened? Yep, more of it found me. Then I started to LOVE money, and guess what happened?
A while ago someone asked me if I had some good recommendations around money mindset and abundance and so I created a list of my favorites and put them here:
My Top Books On Money Mindset & Abundance!
Keep in mind these are more about money beliefs and money mindset (not strategy), but just like anything, strategy doesn’t matter if you don’t have the right beliefs or mindset.
Want to know if you have an aversion to money? Say this out loud: “I f*cking LOVE money!”
If that feels incredibly uncomfortable, you might have a sub-conscious block that feels guilty for wanting it. Release it right here and now!
Have an awesome rest of your week and don’t feel bad for LOVING money!
