Dominate your goals using these 7 steps
Oct 13, 2022Want to know what formula I use to CRUSH massive goals? I promised I’d share what helps me keep mine front of mine and actually happen!
They say 80% of people don’t even set goals and out of those, only 70% of those end up reaching them.
What makes it so hard to set goals and to achieve them?
I’ve been able to manifest some big things in life, but I’ve also had times where I wrote down a goal and put it on a piece of paper, only to forget about it and find it in a desk months later.
The other day I posted about how SMART goals drive me nuts, for those of you who aren’t familiar, smart stands for (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timebound).
I have an issue with these: Attainable, Realistic and Timebound (so 3 of the 5). Here’s why:
Attainable: What’s not attainable if given enough time and resources?
Realistic: This word reminds me of the judgment people place on us when we think big. “c’mon, you gotta be realistic”. In other words “Don’t go for it because you’ll likely fail and be let down”.
Timebound: The greatest things we have in life come when the time is right, as long as we know where we want to head, have the right belief system and take action. They also often happen in a way where we don’t expect them to happen.
This doesn’t mean I don’t include time in my goal setting, but I let it be flexible so that I don’t let off the gas if it appears that I’m not tracking towards the goal, nor do I beat myself up and feel like a failure.
My belief is that most people don’t set big enough goals because of fearing looking bad or fearing failure, so they set goals that are modest and boring, then they aren’t juicy enough to create massive action and massive inspiration.
Here are some things that have worked well for me and allowed me to break past things I never though possible::
1 – Make it JUICY and EXCITING! Think so big that it gets you up in the morning, it makes you a little nervous and a little scared. It needs to LIGHT YOU UP!
2- Cornerstone Goals: I love having one BIG goal that knocks off several smaller goals, I call this a ‘cornerstone’ goal. For example, one year my cornerstone goal was to break the team record in sales. By doing that, it also helped me hit my income goal AND get to Presidents Club. 3 goals in one!
3 – Create A Strong & Compelling WHY! I see a lot of people set goals like ‘I want to make 6 figures’. But why is that important? What will you do with that money? How will it make you feel? What opportunities will it provide? Make this as descriptive as possible!
4 – Accountability: I used to hate sharing my goals with other people because I feared talking about them then feeling ashamed if I didn’t hit them. Now I’m very open with them and that keeps me accountable to hitting them! Get a group, share with peers that will actually keep you accountable, or get a coach!
5 – Visibility: How can you keep your big juicy and exciting goal ‘front of mind’? The team sales record that I mentioned above, I taped the exact number that I needed to beat and at the end of the year and after all that time, all those deals and all the revenue, my actual number was within .05% above the target I set out to beat (see picture below)!
I also put my goals on my lock screen of my phone so I see them every time I open my phone. You can also make a ‘password’ out of your goal so you are typing it in. Another great idea is to frequently write out your goals and why they are important, and the feelings you will experience when you achieve it!

6 – Leverage Pain & Pleasure! Tony Robbins says everything we do can be boiled down to either avoiding pain or gaining pleasure. Use this to motivate you! For example, one of the most painful moments in my life is almost going bankrupt, I use the vivid memory of the shame I had in that moment to amplify my motivation to stay financially fit. I also LOVE to give so the pleasure of doing that also helps me to amp up my desire to have a high income.
Anchor your pain and pleasure to your goals!
7 – Create A Detailed Plan Of Action – What are the 4-6 big steps to making this a reality? What do you need to know, what do you need to do, what characteristics do you need to embody? Use a mind-map or get on Canva and create your own Journey Map or Success Path. Make it visual and put this where you can see it! Have milestones along the way and Celebrate the F*ck out of them to give you a dose of dopamine and keep you going!
Take these 7 steps and journal this out. Don’t be afraid to go big on your goals! Don’t fear failure or judgment! Also let me know how I can help you make them happen!
